WHAT IS STEAM COOKING?

Steaming is considered the healthiest cooking method. Steaming; It is a cooking technique that allows vegetables and fruits to be cooked without loss of nutritional value, vitamins and minerals.

HOW IS STEAM COOKING APPLIED?

For steaming you will need a steamer or a steaming basket. The steaming basket is often preferred because it does not take up space and is low cost. A steaming basket that can be placed in the pot will come in handy when cooking your baby's vegetables.

* Put the washed and diced vegetables in the steaming chamber and drizzle 1 teaspoon of olive oil.

*You should put drinking water at the bottom of the pot so that it does not touch the steam cooking chamber. You can have delicious and healthy vegetables steamed for an estimated 20 minutes. You can prepare delicious purees according to your baby's eating skills and taste.

*After the steam cooking process is completed, you can serve it to your baby by adding 2-3 tablespoons of warm water, crushing it with a fork or mixing it according to your baby's eating skills.

*If you are going to use a steamer in recipes with rice, cook the rice halfway beforehand. Place the half-cooked rice in the steaming basket with the raw vegetables. Rice and vegetables will be fully cooked in about 20 minutes.

ALTERNATIVE METHOD TO STEAM COOKING

As a society, we are not used to steam cooking, so you may not be able to apply the steaming technique in your daily kitchen routine when your baby is in the supplementary food period. At this point; I will talk about the method that I often use. You can cook the food in a steel pot on low heat with a sufficient amount of water with the lid closed, keeping the vitamin loss at a minimum level as if you were steaming the food and present it to your baby.
